What is Balboa?

Balboa is a partner dance that was invented during the swing era.

Swing music was very popular during the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. The dance halls in the Balboa Peninsula in California became so crowded that the dancers couldn’t do big movements. A close embrace, shuffling dance with small movements evolved that we now call Balboa.

This combination of the classy swing music, fashion and stylish moves makes for a very fun and graceful dance.
